BlackBerry Expands Asia-Pacific HQ Amid Rising Regional Cyber Threats
BlackBerry has significantly expanded its Asia-Pacific headquarters, establishing three new locations in Malaysia—Cyberjaya, central Kuala Lumpur, and Mont Kiara. The MOVE includes a 24/7 regional support center staffed with over 50 cybersecurity experts, aimed at addressing the surge in cyber threats across the region.
The expansion follows the launch of the MCMC and BlackBerry Cybersecurity Center of Excellence in Cyberjaya earlier this year, underscoring the company's strategic focus on APAC. Malaysia's government-backed initiatives in AI and cybersecurity have created a conducive environment for such growth, with the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) highlighting the expansion as a boost for public-private collaboration.
APAC has emerged as a global hotspot for cyber threats, with incidents rising 134% between 2020 and 2024. BlackBerry's heightened presence aligns with this trend, reflecting strong demand for cybersecurity services despite broader economic pressures. The company has also raised its FY2026 revenue outlook, signaling confidence in its regional strategy.
